Bill Moyers on Israel/Gaza - With Commentary Contains Video - A quote...."The most striking aspect is that sober, fact-based, even-handed commentary like this about Israel automatically subjects one to widespread, profoundly ugly accusations of being "anti-Israel" and even "anti-Semitic," to the point where not a single U.S. Senator and no House member other than a handful dare utter anything other than unquestioning support for Israeli actions, such that most members of the U.S. Congress are, literally, far more willing to question and oppose American military actions than Israel's military actions (the establishment discussion rules are virtually identical to those that prevailed in the pre-Iraq-war days, though even more rigidly enforced: one can question the efficacy of the Israeli attack from the perspective of Israeli interests, but may not question its morality, legality or justifiability):" -- For more regarding the articles shown above see....Judeo-Christian C/C & US This website editor has only one objection to what Bill Moyers said in his video. It’s his reference to Hamas as a "terrorist organization". for the sake of simplicity leaving aside Israel's own much more massive terrorism , let us review why calling Hamas a terrorist organization without mentioning a few historical details could possibly be construed as misleading. One: is that Israel the US-NRE and the Saudi Royals supported elements and helped to create Hamas in the first place as a counter weight to the PLO. Two: is that Hamas won a free, fair, and heavily monitored democratic election in 2006. Three: is that after Hamas won the election, Israel, the US-NRE and the Saudi Royal axis of evil spent two years pouring massive amounts of arms and funding into Hamas's rival Fatah, resulting in a bloody civil war. Four: Israel imposed a vicious and ruthless blockade against the people of Gaza and Hamas. Five: Hamas launched their rockets only after several severe provocations. So it’s all well and good to call Hamas a “terrorist” organization, but without the proper historical perspective the phrase is just as meaningless when used in regards to Hamas as it has been with all the other hundreds of “friends” the US has supported and than tried to destroy over the years, several of which were also democratically elected governments. - mpg |
