In addition to that unchallenged fact, all of the Palestinian people ARE indeed, actually Semitic, and it is highly unlikely that Congress is passing a bill to condemn those who criticize the Palestinian people. So the use of that term is an obvious misnomer.  

Also, using the term "anti-Jewish" is wrong in several respects.  Many, if not most members of the "Jewish" community are either non-practicing or a-religious. In addition to that fact, it is only logical to call someone "anti-Jewish" if they have some deep and irredeemable theological disagreement with specific tenets of the "Jewish" religion.

It is not about "Judaism"
It is not about "Semitism"
It is not even about "Zionism"

These terms are simply used to obfuscate the actual area of disagreement, criticism or more precisely....competition.

A point of order on Dr Fernando Cheung's comments. He states that Hong Kong's "basic law" allows the nomination of candidates by direct vote.  He's flat out wrong. 

The central government of China very carefully, and very particularly, wrote that section so they could prevent candidates, sponsored by foreign governments, from attaining office and initiating actions to divide Hong Kong from the mainland.

Please note, Dr Cheung specifically stated the movement wasn't about "economics", that the only issue was the nomination of candidates by direct vote.
 
As such the main demand by the "Umbrella Movement" to vitiate this section of the law, and it was known at the time they made it, is and was, utterly insuperable to the Chinese government.  (unacceptable and insurmountable).

Not to mention the fact the "Umbrella Movement" and its members have received over a decade's worth of training, funding, and logistical support from the very same Neo-libs / Neo-cons who brought the world those wonderful "color" movements in Libya, Syria and Ukraine.  Movements that have resulted in the absolute devastation of those former nation states.
