FYI:  It's a good idea, and has been proposed by many.  A mag-rail mass-driver only needs to achieve 5,300 miles per hour to send its package on its way to an Earth parking orbit. Being very careful to aim properly.

Since the Moon has almost a pure vacuum at its surface, it's technically feasible to construct such a mass driver.  Metals and rare-earths would be processed and smelted on the Moon's surface, then sent on their way to orbital factories in high, or even low Earth orbit, for the final manufacturing of finished goods and products. 

Since all of these shipments are sliding down a gravity well, they could build primitive gliders out of some of the metals, containing finished products for delivery, for a one way trip to the Earth's surface. 

After they land, the gliders could be dissembled for their metal content, while the finished goods are sent on their way for final delivery.  Going from the Moon to the earth would be easy, and cheap.  Going the other way would take much more energy and be more expensive.  Unless they could actually develop Konstantin Tsiolkovsky's and Yuri Artsutanov's "space elevator" - mpg
