Bush's
impending attack against Iran is a typical case of Texas
five card draw, the problem is you have to be able to bluff in five
card draw.
In most poker analogies regarding international relations it's the
readiness to use force that are the "chips" in the high stakes
geo-political game of money, power and oil. But the
Bush-Neocon-PNAC agenda is completely different.
Bush’s “chips” in this case would be his word, his promises, his
intentions - but we're talking about somebody who hasn't honored a
single agreement unless it was for his rich friends, so Bush doesn't
have any "chips" to play with. He's bluffing; he's going to
attack Iran no matter what he promises or what Iran does or does not
do, after all this is a man who
hasn't even honored the U.S.'s constitution or the U.S.'s legal
commitment to
international treaties.
Promises to Iran about not overthrowing the current government aren't
worth the paper they're written on. Ahmadinejad knows he can’t
agree to a moratorium on uranium enrichment under pressure of Bush's
approaching armada, an armada "fortuitously"
timed to arrive in the Middle East right before the U.S.’s upcoming
elections.
If he does Bush and the Neocons will crow victory, win both houses of
Congress and leisurely take Iran apart over the next two years after
the elections are over.
If he doesn’t' agree to Bush's terms, Bush launches his attack in
anticipation of a ”rally around the flag effect” to help maintain the
Neocons continued control of Congress.
Either way Bush and the Neocons win and the U.S. and Iran lose.
We are going to war within six weeks if Bush is allowed to follow the
Neocon's script. This is exactly what the Neocons and their
patrons have planned for, what they've always wanted, their much
anticipated ”long war.”
