There
is something terribly wrong with this country
Now here's a fun video.
Two
Months Before 9/11, an Urgent Warning to Rice
More light shed on Rice's inability to act upon the warnings she was
giving prior to 9/11. Totally glossed over by the 9/11 commission of
course. This is not the infamous PDB, nope…it’s just an example of one
of the many warnings members of this administration ignored prior to
9/11.
It is not amusing, nor is it to be considered "clever" that this
administration's officials got the faux-9/11 commission to take their
testimony without putting them under oath.
They’re not incompetent; with the exception of Bush, these individuals
have displayed a high degree of competence when it suits their
interests. Yet they failed to take any action on what they were so
obviously told prior to 9/11.
The question the American people have to ask these officials is
why? Why did they fail to take action, and what other actions may
they be failing to take right now.

The
Basics on John Negroponte
Lots of dirt on all those pesky relationships these guys have.
The author’s contention that Negroponte is an Islamophile however is
unlikely; he was probably just supporting the Neocon's ongoing project
of "constructive instability", i.e. their efforts and that of the PNAC
crowd to control both sides of the "great game".
Note this quote in the article, it's directly related to the post above
about our 'oh so forgetful' Condi Rice......"Rohrabacher said in a 60
minute speech to Congress on Jun 21, 2004, that he tried to warn Condi
Rice of an imminent attack by AlQaeda on the US attack the week of
September 10 and 11, 2001. He claimed 9/11 was the “dramatic failure of
policy and people.” Yet Rohrabacher did not even try to testify about
this during the joint Senate and House hearings on 9/11 or to the 9/11
Commission."

Oh and one more thing, just a suggestion, perhaps you shouldn't talk

Rice
Ignored bin Laden Warnings Prior to 9/11
A quote....."Richard Clarke was right. So was Paul O'Neill. During the six months before the 9/11*
terrorist attacks, the Bush administration paid little attention to
the threat from al-Qaeda and instead set the stage for a war with Iraq."
"Two weeks before 9/11, national security wasn't even a top priority
for the Bush administration. Security - job security, health security
and national security - was last on a list of major issues Bush planned
to deal with in the fall of 2001, according to a transcript of a speech
Bush gave on August 31, 2001, to celebrate the launch of the White
House's new web site."
Oh my goodness, what a surprise, (wink, wink) the administration had
planned to go after Iraq six months BEFORE 9/11? My, my, my, it's
such a shame (heavy sarcasm) that our "mass media" didn't report
about this earlier.

"Stealing

A quote...."Dorothy Fadiman's powerful, moving, infuriating,
comprehensive and brilliant new film might well be re-named 'The Crime
of the Century.' We all now know that the elections of 2000 and
2004 were stolen. The only thing that the American people can be
proud of about George W. Bush is that they (or we) have never chosen
him president."

And here's some good news.
Thanks,
But I'll Sit This One out
An attempt at simulated Republican thinking. The author doesn't
quite get it right however; the wealthy elites of our country don't
feel relieved at sending the "little people" to their deaths.
They feel it's one of their rights and obligations, an aristocratic
privilege that’s necessary to enforce the social order. Most
importantly of course....they really enjoy it.
Ripping
Off A Democracy Is As Old As Ancient Athens
Quote..."Athenians saw themselves as invincible warriors for freedom
when they went off to Syracuse in 413 BCE. They were shocked when
victory did not come. The reasons for the war turned out to be a
complete lie and the situation much more complex. In a stunning defeat,
their entire Navy got trapped in the middle of a civil war and
slaughtered. A few rich aristocratic families, the Tyrants, (as they
were called) exploited this horrifying loss and convinced Athenians to
change the constitution to give them power. Once in power, in the name
of patriotism and security this small group of tyrants sold their
people out to Sparta, looted the public treasury, and left Athens
broke. The educated middle class was destroyed and over time the rule
of kings returned."
Anthrax,
Iran & bin Laden: Waiting for the October Surprise
And now my friends the time has come to talk of many things, of 9/11,
sarin gas and sealing wax. Of powdered anthrax and false kings.
Jaun Cole
A quote.."Bush accused the Democrats of being the party of "cut and run
on Thursday. But when you are losing a guerrilla war, you should begin
considering an orderly retreat. Otherwise you will be stuck in an ever
worsening quagmire."
"Look at when the British withdrew from Kenya. The Mau Mau revolt and
other political violence sudddenly went away. Likewise in the 60s when
the French withdrew from Algeria. The longer the US is the
military occupier in Iraq, the more likely it is that American lives
will be endangered."

Deficit
comes in below projections, thanks to `off-budget' borrowing
The "off-budget" borrowing is from the social security trust fund.
There's been a lot of really stupid talk for years from "conservatives"
in this country about how the social security trust fund is "going to
run out of money". Here's a suggestion, perhaps they shouldn't be
allowed to spend it and just stick an I.O.U. into the U.S.'s treasury,
an I.O.U. they're not going to be around to pay back
A quote from the IRC - not from the article above......"The Internal
Revenue Service cautions employers to collect and pay trust fund taxes
as required by law. "Trust Fund" taxes are withheld income, social
security and Medicare taxes. These monies are withheld from the salary
payments of employees and paid over to the government by employers."
".....the responsible officers may be held personally liable for these taxes
through the TFRP. The IRS uses the TFRP to facilitate collection of the
trust fund portion of taxes. Section 6672(a) of the Code allows the
Internal Revenue Service to reach the personal assets of responsible
persons who do not withhold and pay to the government amounts required
to be withheld."
That's personally liable for 100%
of all unpaid taxes! Here's an idea..... these are "trust fund"
taxes after all, why not interpret the law as also applying to the
responsible office holders who hold these taxes in "trust" for this
nation's employees.
Before they leave office these office holders would be required to pay
back into the trust fund any amounts they'd overspent, otherwise these
amounts would simply be deducted from their flesh.
What do you think, one ounce per million dollars, does that sound about
right?

Another
Century of War
A quote..."The Carlyle Group links U.S. military policy with vast
personal fortunes---its forte is pairing the powerful with the rich. A
number of its big players are from Texas and/or have interests in oil.
Among those with Carlyle connections: former President George Bush, the
Saudi bin Laden family, former Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci, and
former Secretary of State James Baker III."
"Since its founding in 1987, Carlyle has dealt in billions of dollars
of defense related projects. During, and between, the two Bush
presidencies, its value has skyrocketed---returning an average profit
of 34 percent per year over the past decade. "
Pretty impressive, right? How many of you get 34% per year from
your investments?
It obviously pays very well to know people in government who have
the ability to start wars, those who can "time" their wars, those
who can arrange "pretexts" for them - sudden, convenient, catalyzing

rhetoric. But that didn't seem to bother the scores of experienced
delegate-diplomats in the hall, who greeted Chávez's speech with
wild applause. (When Bush spoke the day before, the General Assembly's
hall sounded like a morgue.) That reaction, as an incisive Washington
Post article points out, shows that Chávez's words, while
"harsh...in many ways...merely expressed in bolder terms what a number
of other world leaders and foreign diplomats believe." Moreover, to be

Russia
sets the pace in energy race
A good article on why the Neocon's did what they did.
In the article the author states the U.S. recently suggested to China
that the two countries get together and develop a common strategy for
energy security. The Chinese are marvelous, restrained, and subtle
negotiators, this was obviously demonstrated by the fact they didn't
immediately fall down and roll around on the ground laughing themselves
to death.
It has been abundantly established by myriads of authors that the
fortuitous arrangement of 9/11 and subsequent invasion of the entire
Middle East and Caspian basin regions by the Neocons was designed to
accomplish two objectives.
One was the continued dismemberment and humiliation of Russia, the
second was the attempt to control the world's oil supplies, primarily
to contain the perceived threat of a powerful and growing China.
The Neocon's have not given up on this ambitious agenda.

First Americans were utterly blind, then they were abysmally stupid, a

recently, "it's Liberal societies that fail to teach responsibility for
one's own actions." Well this hasn't been a liberal
society for years, so no more excuses, no more complaints, no more

The phrase "I didn't know" won't
work anymore, there isn't a drop of "plausible deniability" left,
the well of credulity is barren and dry as bone. No
matter what American's say "they believe in" when taking polls, no
matter what they pretend "to know or not know" when answering

Maybe a country that has tolerated so much dehumanizing drivel for so

for developing countries,” notes one civil society policy paper.
“Today, it is an institution under siege, hiding behind its four walls
in Washington, DC, unable to mount an effective response to its growing
numbers of critics.”
Good luck to the fifty countries.... If you guys no longer want to deal
with the predatory lending practices and immoral mercantilist policies
of the IMF. or World Bank, you should just go out and start your own
lending institution. You all have the skills, discipline and
resources to do so.
Just make absolutely sure you don't let the U.S. in, or more
importantly let the U.S. borrow any money. If you do you'll never
see a dime of it again.

German journalist Jürgen Elsässer unravels the Jihadist
thread. Muslim fighters recruited by the CIA to fight against the
Soviets in Afghanistan were used successively in Yugoslavia and
Chechnya, still supported by the CIA, but perhaps sometimes out of its

Gen.
says U.S. may boost forces in Iraq
What's wrong with this general? It's the craziest thing anyone's
ever heard..... not their intentions of sending more cannon fodder to
Iraq of course. No that’s not what's crazy, what's crazy is the
General
announcing
this before the upcoming November elections. Doesn’t the guy care
about his career??? Didn't he talk to Karl Rove before he opened
his mouth? They have to be losing it over there in D.C.

Poor intelligence hurt fight against Katyushas
From the article..............
"MI knew about Hezbollah kidnap plans"
"Military Intelligence had clear information about an impending kidnap
attempt by Hezbollah shortly before the Lebanese group carried out its
cross-border raid on July 12, according to an internal inquiry
conducted by the Israel Defense Forces."
"The information - which could, if properly handled, have prevented the
kidnapping of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser - was not analyzed and
passed on to the troops in time, the report indicated."
"The IDF Spokesman's Office refused to either confirm or deny the
report, saying that the issue is still being investigated by Military
Intelligence (MI) and the Northern Command."
Oh no......say it ain't so Joe! So they have "fortuitous" events
in Israel just like we do in the U.S., my goodness it really is a small
world after all!
Well at least they're investigating it...... maybe they should also

A
quote...."To the wealthiest 500 Democrats in the land: we the people of
the United States are issuing a rally cry for you to join us, and any
one of you has the power, by standing with us, to change the course of
history."
This is a really, really good article however.......
A plea for help from the "Wealthy Democrats" (now there's a
contradiction)........ are you kidding, they're already
helping out, they're helping the Republicans win the upcoming election!
The moment the Supreme Court, the Court which gave the presidential
office to
the Republican party also stated that
money
is equal to free speech - that's the moment when democracy died in
this country.
Given the circumstances that the Court has imposed upon us all, the
question everyone should ask themselves is, are you a good
"three
fifths" to your southern master or are you a good
"client"
of your Roman patron?
You shouldn't have to think about it to much,
presently most of you are one or the other.
We've become the dying, decadent, degenerate New Republic of Rome. It's
as simple as that.

CIA
Learned in '02 That Bin Laden Had No Iraq Ties, Report Says
Here's another story about a "destroyed” report.
This Washington Post story goes all over the place.
First the story states that the CIA report was "apparently not passed
on to the White House or senior Bush policymakers." Then the
story goes on to state "Nothing was withheld from the White House," one
former aide said, although there was "a lot of debate inside the agency
about the Saddam-al-Qaeda relationship" because it was the focus of
repeated questions from administration officials, including Vice
President Cheney and his then-chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby"
Obviously if it was "the focus of repeated questions from
administration officials" they passed it on ....right? But what
does "although" mean in this context?
Considering what has gone on in Bushyville for the last five years the
quotes "a lot of debate" and "although" mean precisely this.
Those in the CIA on the Neocon's payroll were attempting to make sure
nothing critical of Bushy's and the Neocon's plans flowed up the
pipeline, so little Bushy's "(im)plausible deniability" could be
preserved, while those in the CIA who were trying to do there jobs did
what they were supposed to do and eventually passed the report on. No
doubt when the report got to the White House it went to the same place
the FCC draft did, and so did the careers of the employees who sent the
report
No wonder the CIA has to
hire
more people, they keep firing the one's that do their jobs.

Decline
Of The American Empire
A quote.........."There are more forces at work on the place of the
American Empire than the emergence of other economic powers, important
as that is. Major studies of the decline of empire – from Edward Gibbon
to William Shirer - speak to the overwhelming importance of the moral
dimension in a society and of the crucial role of capable and
responsible leadership.
Polls show that three years after launching its pointless war in Iraq,
nearly half of Americans still believed that Iraq was involved in
making weapons of mass destruction. Five years after 9/11, better than
forty percent of Americans believe Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11.
Both of these ideas have been proved complete fairy tales. But the
concentration of American media and their shared establishment
interests with George Bush have produced a fabric of omissions and
exaggerations as great as we might expect in a non-democratic society
like China."

Nato
fails on Afghan troops plea
Now how could that happen?
A quote from the article....."Speaking in Canada, she [Condi Rice]
explained that the US should learn its lessons from Afghanistan."If you
allow that kind of vacuum, if you allow a failed state in that
strategic location, you're going to pay for it," she said.
Last month, Nato commanders took over from US-led coalition forces but
there has been a resurgence of Taleban attacks, above all in the south"
When Rice states "If you
allow that kind of vacuum," is she referring to Bushy's decision to
take many of the U.S.'s best troops out of Afghanistan before the
country had been stabilized and send them off to go invade Iraq?
Or
is
she referring to the U.S.'s
complete abandonment of Afghanistan
last month? Statements from this administration's officials are
just so confusing.
Hey instead of putting more NATO troops in Afghanistan or planning to
leave half a billion
dollars of small arms in that country as was considered by the U.S,
why not leave a billion
dollars worth, why not two?

Coaxing
the unwilling
Here's a quote...."A generation later, as the ever less
appetizing-looking wars in Iraq and Afghanistan spiral on without end,
an overstretched US Army and Marine Corps have clearly become
desperate. At a remarkable cost in dollars, effort and lowered
standards, recruiting and retention numbers are being maintained for
now.
The result: US ground forces are increasingly made up of a motley mix
of under-age teens, old-timers, foreign fighters, gang-bangers,
neo-Nazis, ex-cons, inferior officers and a host of near-mercenary
troops, lured in or kept in uniform through big payouts and promises.
In the latter half of the Vietnam War, as the breakdown was occurring,
US troops began to scrawl "UUUU" on their helmet liners - an
abbreviation that stood for "the unwilling, led by the unqualified,
doing the unnecessary for the ungrateful".
To the guys coming back, let's not have another post Vietnam
repeat......... you know like the late 60's and early 70's where the
poor and lower middle class neighborhoods were devastated, the
neighborhoods where YOUR kids are going to grow up and go to school in,
where YOUR houses are going to be, where YOUR parents live.
Instead why not do something different for a change? If you're
feeling lonely, depressed, need a little money, want to let off a
little steam.....why not go visit one of the neighborhoods of our
illustrious wealthy elites.....you know the people that sent you over
there in the first place, the one's who told you to go kill and die for
them. You'll be doing them a favor, showing them what their money
has bought, showing them just how good your training really is, it'd be
sort
of
like a theme park - you'd be showing them the REAL Iraq, not that silly
stuff they see on TV. No doubt they'd appreciate it.
After all the rich really don't care about your neighborhoods do
they? They sure don't care about what happened to you in Iraq or
what you've done over there. In fact they even told you that you
were helping the Iraqis right? They told you every time you
destroyed an Iraqi city, every time you wiped out an Iraqi
neighborhood, every time you killed an Iraqi family, every time you
tortured an Iraqi......you were
actually helping them, isn't that what they've told you? It's what
they've
told the rest of us, 24/7 on the TV, radio, and in the
newspapers.
Just remember when you get back, many of you who joined in your teens
and early twenties, whose lives will be forever changed, who were too
stupid to know better, who did wrong.........you're not to
blame.

US
Defense And Oil Company Executives Reap Windfalls From Iraq War
A quote....."After 9/11, pay levels of defense and energy CEOs soared.
According to the IPS, CEOs of the top 34 defense contractors saw their
average compensation double, from $3.6 million in 2002 to $7.2 million
in 2005. Since September 11, these 34 executives have pocketed a
combined total of nearly a billion dollars, which the IPS estimates
would be “enough to cover the entire wage bill for more than a million
Iraqis for a year.” Average defense CEO pay was 308 times the pay
received by a deployed US Army private in 2005, $25,000."
Says even more.....doesn't it?

Warns of Strain in U.S. Ties (The Afghan Arms Deal Goes Bust) This is an update to the
blog "US
Sets up £215m Deal for Afghan Arms - from Russia" The truly
monumentally stupid idea of the Bush administration to leave five
hundred million dollars worth of small arms in Afghanistan to be
captured by the Taliban when NATO & U.S. forces withdraw.
Which would then be used on Americans during the term of what could be
the next Democratic President. Generating more destruction, calls
for the Republicans to get back in power, and profits for the Military
Industrial Oil Complex in it’s next incursion in the Middle East
- Just like they did with 911…….Wow I just had a sudden thought,
